The Rt. Hon.Patrick McLoughlin, Secretary of State for Transport, today visited Nottinghamshire and opened the new headquarters building of Coldharbour Marine Ltd.

Coldharbour Marine, recognised for the design, manufacture and supply of marine inert gas and fluid handling equipment particularly used in tankers, LNG and LPG carriers and floating production vessels (FPSOs) is now based in a 25k sq. ft. building in Linby. Previously spread over 3 sites, Coldharbour’s administrative headquarters, design office, research laboratory, development and factory acceptance test (FAT) facility, rig, stores and warehouse together with a high-tech assembly shop are now under one roof. The investment was supported by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership; promoting economic growth and jobs creation in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.”

Coldharbour Marine was also celebrating the achievement of IMO accreditation for its Ballast Water Treatment System by the UK's Marine and Coastguard Agency, MCA, and Lloyds Register after 5 years of effort. The projected international demand for this is underpinning an ambitious recruitment campaign.  Coldharbour Marine is in the process of recruiting 100 full time staff including marine engineers and designers, project managers and mechanical engineers.

According to Coldharbour Marine’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Marshall, “The move to larger premises is part of a planned expansion of our inert gas business and will ensure that Coldharbour is able to satisfy ship owners and operators demand for products. We anticipate the imminent introduction of the International Marine Organisations’ ballast water management convention will trigger huge international demand for ballast water management systems worldwide”

The Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin said,” It gave me great pleasure to open Coldharbour Marine. This is exactly the type of business the UK needs, it is committed to top quality design and engineering and to the production of high tech. equipment for a world- wide customer base.
