MARINE JET PUMPS
The Coldharbour range of Marine Jet Pumps are a versatile, simple and effective method of stripping cargo holds and ballast tanks, pump and engine room bilges, chain lockers, bowthruster rooms and similar environments. Oils and sullage with suspended solids are handled without difficulty.
Continual testing and development over a 25 year period has ensured that our designs create optimum efficiencies which in turn minimises the quantity of driving fluid required.
Typical advantages these Jet Pumps offer over conventional centrifugal pumps :-
- No moving parts
- Simple and reliable
- No seals or glands
- Self-priming
- Suitable for flameproof areas
- Installation within pipework
- Maintenance free
- Longer life cycle

Coldharbour Marine Jet Pumps offer the marine engineer an operationally simple, maintenance-free pump, whilst the configuration also allows the ship designer maximum operating and installation flexibility. To enhance these attributes, Coldharbour Engineers have developed a complete range of jet pumps offering many advantages over other jet pumps in the market.
In operation a jet pump utilises a pressurised driving fluid which is introduced through a jet nozzle into a suction chamber. The change from pressure energy to kinetic energy(velocity) creates an area of low pressure that entrains liquid via the suction port. The driving and suction fluids combine and the velocity of the resulting mixture is reduced to regain sufficient pressure to overcome backpressure from the discharge pipework |
