OUR SOLUTION
The thinking behind the technology…
...came from you, the customer. Coldharbour consulted Tanker operators around the world and from these consultations a list of “must have” features for the new system was compiled:
- The system must not disrupt normal ship operations
- The system must be rugged, reliable and suitable for life on board a Tanker
- The system must not require upgrades to on-board power generation capacity
- The system must not require upgrades to ballast pumps or piping
- The system design must allow for gravity ballasting and de-ballasting
- There must be no ballast water filtration requirements
- There must be no specialist maintenance requirements
- The system must be simple to use by crew members with IGG experience
- The system must have a small footprint
- The system must have low running costs
- The BWT IGG system must be available for cargo blanketing duty (if so required)
- The system must be future proof – able to respond to and meet tightening regulations
- The system must be able to deal with the problem of bacterial regrowth in ballast tanks
- The system must offer corrosion reduction in the ballast tanks
- The system must be safe for crew and environment in the event of misuse
- The system must not use chemicals or active substances – G8 approval type is preferred.
- The system must not disrupt normal ship operations (It’s so important, you said it twice!)
The Coldharbour BWT system delivers all this and more in a package designed specifically for use on large Tankers (>30,000dwt), LNG/LPG vessels and IGG equipped Bulkers.
